Shiba Inu price 4.9 percent below the month high: Why SHIB is falling
Shiba Inu trades at $0.00000581 on Wednesday afternoon, 4.9 percent below the high of September 23, even though the coin is up 17.0 percent over 30 days. The reasons are not in the chart but in the network data and in the cost structure of trading.

Shiba Inu costs $0.00000581, or €0.00000513, on Wednesday afternoon. That is 4.9 percent less than on September 23, when the price reached its 30-day high at $0.00000610. Over a month, Shiba Inu is nevertheless up 17.0 percent. This contradiction is the heart of the situation: the meme coin gained substantially in September and has not moved a step in a week.
Anyone who wants to understand why the price is giving way today should look not at the chart but at two figures from the ecosystem and at the structure of trading. Both explain more than any candle.
Shiba Inu trades at 5.81 millionths of a dollar, 4.9 percent below the September 23 high
The price stands at $0.00000581 on Wednesday afternoon, according to CoinGecko. Over the past 24 hours Shiba Inu has lost 1.43 percent, over seven days 1.77 percent. Market capitalisation is $3.42 billion, enough for rank 36 among all cryptocurrencies. Trading turnover over the past 24 hours came to $101.4 million, slightly above the 30-day average of roughly $90.9 million.
More interesting than the daily figure is the range. Since the high on September 23, the daily closing price has moved between $0.00000568 and $0.00000595. That is a band of 4.8 percent over seven days. For a coin that ran from $0.00000494 to $0.00000610 in the same month, a rise of 23 percent from low to high, that is strikingly little movement. The market has ground to a halt.
Analysts call such a narrowing compression. What is meant is that buyers and sellers balance each other out within a narrow band and neither side commits enough capital to push the price out of it. Compression always resolves, but it says nothing about the direction.

Why selling pressure is building despite a monthly gain of 17 percent
September's rise did not come out of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. It came from the broader market. Bitcoin gained 8.5 percent over the same period, Dogecoin 16.2 percent. In such phases meme coins move as a leveraged bet on general risk appetite: when the market rises, they rise harder; when it stalls, they fall back faster.
That is exactly what is happening now. Bitcoin has traded sideways for days and has lost 0.51 percent in 24 hours. Without fresh capital from above, Shiba Inu lacks the drive, and anyone who entered in September at $0.0000049 is sitting on a paper gain of around 18 percent. Profit-taking from that group meets an order book into which little new money is flowing anyway.
On top of that comes a structural point that weighs more heavily with Shiba Inu than with large cryptocurrencies: the supply in circulation is 589.24 trillion tokens. Every cent of price gain has to be financed across that quantity. To lift market capitalisation from $3.42 billion to $4 billion, roughly $580 million net would have to flow into the coin. With daily turnover of $101 million, the vast majority of which is back-and-forth trading between the same addresses, that is a high hurdle.
Shibarium carries 1,680 transactions a day, the ecosystem supplies no demand
Shibarium is the project's own layer 2 blockchain. A layer 2 is a second level above an existing blockchain that settles transactions more cheaply and quickly and writes the results to the main chain in bundles. At Shiba Inu, Shibarium was meant to be the engine: every transaction there burns part of the fees in SHIB and thereby reduces the supply in circulation.
That calculation is not working out at present. According to an analysis by The Crypto Basic from September 22, Shibarium processes around 1,680 transactions a day. In August 2025 the figure was 4.69 million. That is a decline of 99.96 percent.
Part of that is self-inflicted and technical in nature. In mid-September a reorganisation of the chain forced the team to replace all public RPC endpoints permanently. RPC stands for remote procedure call and denotes the address through which a wallet talks to a blockchain. Anyone with the old address still in their wallet simply sees nothing on Shibarium any more. What had to be done about it we described in our piece on the Shibarium RPC switch on September 29. The block explorer Shibariumscan had been reindexed only 53 percent of the way by September 20.
For the price the cause is secondary. What counts is that for weeks the network has sent no demand signal on which a buyer could base a thesis.
The burn of 68 million tokens equals 0.00001 percent of the supply
Burning tokens means sending coins to an address from which nobody can ever move them again. Those tokens are thereby out of circulation for accounting purposes. At Shiba Inu this has been the supporters' most important argument for years.
The day's figures put it in perspective. The tracker Shibburn reports 68,290,532 SHIB burned over the past 24 hours, worth roughly $395. Measured against a circulating supply of 589.24 trillion tokens, that is 0.00001 percent. At that pace it would take more than 23,000 years, arithmetically, to halve the supply. We laid out this calculation in detail in our burn balance for September.
That does not mean burns are worthless. It means that at their current scale they explain no price movement, and that a headline about a burn value up 154 percent says nothing about demand when the starting base is a few hundred dollars.
Limit instead of market: How to proceed now with 589 trillion tokens in circulation
At a price of €0.00000513, €100 buys roughly 19.5 million SHIB. That order of magnitude has practical consequences which play no role with Bitcoin or Ethereum.
The first point is tick size, that is the smallest price step a trading venue reckons in at all. If a provider quotes Shiba Inu to eight decimal places, a single step is €0.00000001. Measured against the current price that is 0.19 percent. A market order that runs across two or three such steps therefore costs more than the average daily move of the past week. A limit order, in which you set the maximum price yourself, prevents that.
The second point is the spread, that is the gap between the best buy and the best sell price. With meme coins it is markedly wider at smaller venues than at the large ones, because fewer orders sit in the book. Daily turnover of €89.6 million is spread across dozens of venues; buy at one of the thin ones and you pay the difference. Which providers are licensed in Europe under the EU regulation MiCA and how their fee models differ is shown in our crypto exchange comparison.
The third point is the minimum order size. Some providers set it for meme coins in units rather than in euros. Check before buying whether partial execution is possible, otherwise an order sits unfilled in the book at an unfavourable price.
Spread and minimum order size eat more than the daily move on very small amounts
A worked example makes this tangible. Put €100 into Shiba Inu and pay 1.49 percent trading fee plus 0.4 percent spread, and after the purchase you hold €98.11 in value. To get back to €100, the price has to rise by 1.93 percent. Shiba Inu's average absolute daily move over the past week was 1.1 percent.
Put differently: in the current tightness the cost side decides more of the return than the price side. That is not an argument against the coin. It is an argument for choosing the venue and the order type carefully.

Leveraged SHIB products move the liquidation threshold closer to the entry when the range is tight
Tight ranges tempt traders into leverage, because otherwise the movement looks too small. That is precisely where the trap lies. A liquidation is the forced closing of a leveraged position as soon as the collateral deposited no longer suffices. At ten times leverage this threshold sits roughly ten percent away from the entry, less fees and funding costs.
With Shiba Inu the range of the past seven days is 4.8 percent wide. A break out of compression typically moves the price quickly by a multiple of the previous band, and in both directions, because the stops on one side are cleared out first. Work here with high leverage and you will with high probability find yourself on the wrong side once, even if your direction proves right in the end.
If you use derivatives, three figures belong on the table before every position: the liquidation price, the funding rate and the fee per turnover. The differences between platforms are considerable.
One year holding period and a €1,000 exemption threshold: the calendar for older holdings
For investors in Germany the calendar counts alongside the price. Gains from selling cryptocurrencies are private disposal transactions under Section 23 of the Income Tax Act. Hold a coin for longer than a year and you pay no income tax on the sale. Within the year the exemption threshold of €1,000 per calendar year applies: if the sum of all private disposal gains stays below it, no tax falls due; if it is exceeded, the entire amount is taxable, not just the part above the threshold.
Anyone who bought Shiba Inu in September therefore reaches the one-year mark in September 2027. Anyone holding positions from 2024 is long past it. For deciding whether a sale makes sense in the current tightness that makes a considerable difference, and it is one of the few factors you can pin down exactly yourself. The precondition is a clean record of purchase dates; a table with date, quantity and purchase price per entry is enough.
One note for completeness: the exemption threshold applies per person and calendar year across all private disposal transactions, not per coin. Anyone who also realised gains from other cryptocurrencies in the same year adds them together.
Dogecoin gained 16.2 percent in 30 days, Shiba Inu 17.0 percent
A look at the larger meme coin puts the situation in order. Dogecoin trades at $0.094576, has lost 1.34 percent in 24 hours and gained 16.2 percent over 30 days. At 17.0 percent over 30 days Shiba Inu sits marginally ahead, and over seven days, at a loss of 1.77 percent against 3.51 percent, considerably better.
So the two are running in lockstep, and that is the actual message: what is moving at Shiba Inu is meme coin beta, not project-specific demand. Anyone betting on Shibarium as the driver finds no confirmation for it in the network data at present.
The levels that will settle October: 5.70 and 6.10 millionths of a dollar
On the downside the first relevant zone sits at $0.00000570, the lower edge of the seven-day range. Below that follows the monthly low of $0.00000494 from September 16. On the upside $0.00000595 stands in the way first, the upper end of the current range, and after that the monthly high at $0.00000610 from September 23.
These levels are not a forecast. They are measuring points. Their use lies in letting you tie your own decisions to them in advance instead of improvising in the moment of the move. Whoever sets their limit, their stop and their position size beforehand acts differently from someone reacting to a headline.
One qualification belongs with this: all the values named come from daily closing prices. Within a day the price can briefly pierce the zones without anything changing in the situation. For stops this is a known problem; a stop placed exactly on a widely watched level is triggered more often than average.
Shiba Inu price: What to take away
- Settle the venue and the order type before the price. At €0.00000513 per token, tick size, spread and fee decide more of the return than the daily move. Place a limit order instead of a market order and compare the terms beforehand in the crypto exchange comparison.
- Measure leverage against the range, not against the wish. The range of the past seven days is 4.8 percent. If you work with derivatives, note the liquidation price, the funding rate and the fee per turnover before entering; the differences between platforms are set out in the perp DEX overview.
- Bring purchase dates and custody up to date. Note the purchase date for every holding so you can document the one-year period under Section 23 of the Income Tax Act, and check the RPC address in your wallet after the Shibarium switch. Which devices are suitable for that is shown in the hardware wallet comparison.
