When is the next Bitcoin halving?
The next Bitcoin halving is expected in April 2028. There are 75,224 blocks to go; at ten minutes per block, it will happen in 522 days (as of 11/06/2026, 08:34 AM GMT+1). It happens at block 1,050,000: from then on, miners receive 1.5625 bitcoin per new block, half of today's reward. Only the block height at which the halving happens is fixed, not the day.

How to read the chart
The halving is Bitcoin’s built-in scarcity: every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years, the amount of new bitcoin per block is cut in half. This instantly halves the supply that miners can bring to the market every day. The total supply is capped at 21 million bitcoin.
After each of the first four halvings, in 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024, the price rose sharply within eighteen months. Whether that is a connection or a coincidence is disputed, because other factors were at work each time. For miners, however, the halving is clear-cut: their income from new bitcoin is halved overnight, and those with high electricity costs often stop being profitable.
How this number is produced
The Bitcoin protocol halves the reward for a new block every 210,000 blocks. The current block height reported by mempool.space shows how many blocks are left until the next halving and what the reward will be afterwards. The days are an estimate at ten minutes per block, the average the network targets through its difficulty adjustment.
What it does not say
The days and the date are estimates, not an appointment. Blocks are found every ten minutes on average, in reality sometimes faster, sometimes slower, so the estimate drifts by days or even weeks over the months. Only the block height at which the halving happens is fixed, not the day.

Frequently asked questions
How many bitcoin do miners receive per block?
The reward halves with every halving. It started at 50 bitcoin per block in 2009 and stood at 3.125 after the halving in April 2024. How much it will be after the next halving is shown in the chart above. On top of that come the users’ transaction fees, which are not halved.
When were the previous Bitcoin halvings?
The first four halvings took place in November 2012 at block 210,000, in July 2016 at block 420,000, in May 2020 at block 630,000 and in April 2024 at block 840,000. Each time the reward was halved, from 50 via 25, 12.5 and 6.25 to 3.125 bitcoin per block.
Why does the estimated date change?
The estimate assumes exactly ten minutes per block. In reality the pace varies: when computing power rises, blocks come faster until the difficulty catches up. That is why the estimated day moves back and forth over the months. Only the block height at which the halving happens is fixed.
