How this number is produced
Dominance is Bitcoin's share of the market capitalisation of every cryptocurrency listed by CoinMarketCap. The curve shows 90 daily closes from the historical endpoint; the figure under “Now” comes separately from the live call and is therefore fresher than the last point of the curve.
What it does not say
The vertical axis does not start at zero but at the lowest daily mark of the period, otherwise the curve would be a straight line. That is why the range is printed below the chart. A rising dominance also does not necessarily mean Bitcoin rose: it rises just as well when altcoins fall harder.
