How this number is produced
Twelve thematic sectors, each with its 24-hour change in market capitalisation and its size. Sectors are addressed by fixed CoinMarketCap identifiers rather than by name.
What it does not say
Sectors overlap: a coin can sit in several of them. The selection is deliberately curated, because a ranking across all categories would be led by fund portfolios, a bankruptcy estate and catch-all buckets that all contain Bitcoin and are therefore all roughly the same size.
