Our Opinion

Dune is the most open tool in this comparison and simultaneously the most demanding. Instead of prepared metrics you get access to raw blockchain data that can be analysed however you like through SQL. Anyone with a question no provider offers as a ready-made metric can answer it themselves — a qualitative difference from any dashboard product.

The second major advantage is the community: thousands of public dashboards cover protocols, tokens and NFT collections and are viewable without an account. For many questions there is no need to write anything — an existing analysis can be found and copied as a starting point.

The barrier is stated plainly: without SQL knowledge Dune remains a viewing tool. Running your own queries requires query credits, which are limited on the free tier; API access and higher allowances are paid. Plan tiers and pricing change several times a year in practice and should be checked directly with the provider before subscribing.
