Shiba Inu: no burn recorded since October 31, what matters now
Analysis: Shiba Inu's burn tracker has not recorded a new entry since Saturday, October 31, and the seven days before that added up to 17.4 million tokens. What is documented and what our editors conclude from it are kept separate in this article.

What the data shows: the public burn tracker Shibburn lists zero destroyed Shiba Inu tokens over the past 24 hours, and the last recorded entry dates from Saturday, October 31. Our assessment follows further down. For SHIB's supply, this standstill is irrelevant; for the credibility of the burn narrative, it is not.
The price itself barely moves on Sunday evening. According to CoinGecko data, SHIB trades at $0.00000468, up 0.11 percent in a day. Over the week it is down 4.45 percent, over 30 days 16.22 percent. Market capitalisation stands at $2.76 billion, enough for rank 37, and the gap to the all-time high is 94.6 percent.
Zero entries in 24 hours, 17.4 million in seven days
The hard numbers from the tracker: since launch, 410,845,062,911,606 SHIB have been destroyed across 21,929 individual entries. That is 41.08 percent of the original supply of one quadrillion tokens. The total sounds enormous, and it is, but it comes almost entirely from the project's early years.
The current week looks different. Seven days brought in 17,425,806 SHIB, an average of 2.49 million tokens a day. At Sunday evening's price, the weekly total is worth about $82. On Sunday itself, the tracker showed a zero.
For comparison: on the same day, SHIB worth $32.17 million changed hands. Daily volume is thus about 394,000 times larger than everything burned in an entire week. Anyone looking for a force that moves the price will find it in trading, not in the tracker.

How a Shiba Inu burn happens
This is the point many reports leave out. SHIB is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, and the protocol does not destroy a single token on its own. A burn only happens when someone sends tokens to an address for which no private key exists. After that they are unreachable, and the tracker counts the entry.
The pace therefore depends entirely on the behaviour of third parties. Nobody is obliged to send in tokens, and there is no mechanism that automatically takes a share of every transaction. If voluntary senders stay away, or a link breaks in the chain from Shibarium blockchain fees to the burn address on Ethereum, the tracker shows a zero. That is exactly what happened on Sunday.
A zero in the tracker is therefore neither a technical defect in the token nor a sign that something is broken. It simply says that nobody sent in tokens that day.
Compare the best crypto exchangesThe scale: 17.4 million against 589 trillion
There are 589,238,257,046,160 SHIB in circulation, or about 589.24 trillion tokens. The 17.4 million tokens of the past week are 0.0000030 percent of that. This figure is why burn headlines on Shiba Inu are so often misleading.
Work it through with a target anyone can understand. To take a single percent of circulating supply off the market, 5.89 trillion SHIB would have to disappear. At today's price, that is about $27.6 million that someone would have to destroy voluntarily. At the pace of the past seven days, it would take about 6,485 years.
A second angle makes the situation more tangible: the comparison with the larger meme token. Dogecoin has no cap. New coins are created continuously, and its circulating supply of 156.54 billion DOGE keeps growing with every block. Shiba Inu is built the other way round: nothing is added, and of the total supply of 589.50 trillion tokens, 589.24 trillion are in circulation. SHIB's supply is thus already fixed today, without any further burn. Anyone looking to the burn for the decisive difference from Dogecoin will no longer find it here, because the scarcity was established long ago.
The tracker's own history is also worth a number. The 21,929 entries are spread over the years since launch, and at today's daily pace the 41.08 percent of original supply destroyed cannot come from ongoing activity, only from a few very large transfers in the early days. Everything since then has been on the scale of this week, millions of tokens a day against trillions in circulation. This difference between a one-off large event and a steady trickle is the core point that percentage headlines on the daily burn regularly blur.
This gives you a reading aid for every future headline. When a report cites a burn rate of several hundred thousand percent, it relates that percentage to the previous day, not to circulating supply. If the burn rises from 10 to 40,000 tokens, that is mathematically a 399,900 percent increase and in substance a value of less than one dollar. The percentage becomes large because the denominator is tiny.

What has changed since October 30
Two days ago, this space covered the capital on Shibarium, the project's own blockchain. As we reported on October 30, the balance held there was about $41,104, down from $6.44 million two years earlier, a decline of more than 99 percent. You can read more in our article on how Shibarium holds 99 percent less capital.
The two findings belong together, and that is what has changed since Friday. Shibarium blockchain fees are the source that feeds part of the burn. If hardly any capital sits on that blockchain and hardly any transactions run, hardly any fees accrue, and then little or nothing is left to burn at the end of the chain. Sunday's standstill in the tracker is therefore no surprise but the continuation of a trend that has been running for months.
The supply side in the narrower sense is unchanged. Of the total supply, 99.96 percent is in circulation, as we calculated in October when we looked at the circulating supply of 99.96 percent. There are no large unlocks pending that could add pressure. The price depends on demand, not on a supply schedule.
If you are looking for the quarter's price performance, you will find the numbers in our Sunday lunchtime article on the quarterly balance of 97 instead of 100 points.
Find the right hardware wallet for ERC-20 tokensOur view
In our editorial view, the burn is finished as a price driver for Shiba Inu, and not just since this weekend. Three pieces of evidence from this article support that: 17.4 million tokens in seven days against 589.24 trillion in circulation, a value of about $82 against $32.17 million in daily volume, and a capital balance on Shibarium of about $41,104, which cannot feed any meaningful fee stream.
Against this, the 41.08 percent of original supply destroyed is real and remains so. That part of the story is not marketing; it can be verified in 21,929 entries. It is simply history and no longer has an effect today. Anyone holding SHIB because of a shrinking supply is relying on a process that has practically come to a halt. This is an assessment of the situation, not a recommendation to buy or sell.
How to check a burn headline yourself
The next headline about a burn rate is sure to come, and you can put it in context in two minutes. Take the token number cited and divide it by 589.24 trillion, and you have the share of circulating supply. Multiply the same token number by the current price, and you have the value. If the share is below one hundredth of a percent, the report does not move supply, however high the percentage in the headline.
Two more points are worth a look before you trade. First, market depth: daily volume of $32.17 million equals 1.17 percent of market capitalisation. With such thin trading, a larger market order moves the price against you, and a limit order protects against that. Second, custody: SHIB is an ERC-20 token, every transfer to your own wallet costs Ethereum fees, and for amounts in the tens or hundreds of dollars these costs matter. If you want to hold your tokens yourself, weigh the fee against the amount first, and our hardware wallet comparison shows which devices support ERC-20 tokens without extra software.
Burn standstill: $82 in seven days changes nothing about supply
The situation in one sentence: the tracker has stood still since Saturday, and even the week before only brought destroyed tokens worth about $82. Demand alone is therefore responsible for SHIB's price, and it shows in $32.17 million of daily volume and a weekly loss of 4.45 percent. The next reliable figure will come from the tracker as soon as a new entry arrives.
Risk notice: crypto assets are highly volatile, and a total loss of the capital invested is possible. This article is not investment advice and not a solicitation to buy or sell.
