Dash in October 2026: A fully circulating supply against an EU deadline in July 2027
Dash (DASH) is its own payment blockchain, traded since February 2014. It runs on proof of work plus a second layer of so-called masternodes, which provide fast confirmations and an optional mixing of payments. That places Dash in the same group as Monero and Zcash, but its approach differs: with Dash, privacy is opt-in rather than the default. On 22 October 2026 the price stands at around 50.87 US dollars – roughly 66 percent below the twelve-month high of 148.98 US dollars from 4 November 2025, and about 1.75 times the twelve-month low of 29.00 US dollars from 29 July 2026.
What has changed in recent weeks
Two moves in opposite directions. First the summer and early autumn: Dash opened July at 32.51 US dollars, fell to 29.00 US dollars and climbed to a September high of 78.16 US dollars. Over 90 days that leaves a gain of roughly 55 percent, over 60 days a gain of roughly 26 percent. Second, October, which gave part of it back: the month opened at 60.45 US dollars, marked its high at 60.87 US dollars and its low at 46.30 US dollars; the daily close on 21 October was 51.63 US dollars. Over 30 days that leaves a loss of roughly 15 percent, over seven days a gain of roughly 8 percent.
Why this forecast stays cautious
The supply side is the strong part of the calculation, and it is measurable: with Dash, circulating supply and total supply are identical – 12,875,079 DASH. There is no unlock calendar, no locked team reserve and no vote that could change this. The weak spot sits on the demand side, and it is regulatory: according to the available accounts, the EU anti-money-laundering regulation bars supervised crypto service providers from handling anonymity-enhancing coins from July 2027, and Dash is named in those accounts. On top of that comes a finding from our own volume measurement: the largest single venue, at around 28.01 million US dollars, is not one of the major exchanges. Our scenarios therefore start from the opening price of the year, 41.60 US dollars, and the average value for 2026 sits below today's price.

What Dash is and what drives its price
Dash is first of all a payment network with its own chain. It grew out of the Bitcoin code in 2014 and is not issued on someone else's platform but secured by its own machines – using the X11 hashing method and proof of work, as with Bitcoin and Litecoin. The difference lies in a second layer: alongside the miners there are masternodes, which provide additional services and receive a fixed share of the block reward for doing so.
The second layer: masternodes
Anyone wanting to run a masternode must post 1,000 DASH as collateral. These nodes deliver three things: InstantSend, a confirmation within seconds rather than in blocks; ChainLocks, a safeguard against the chain being rewritten after the fact; and the optional mixing of payments. The block reward is split three ways: a share to the miners, an equal share to the masternodes, and a tenth into a community treasury. The masternode operators vote on how that treasury is used. This is the difference from a token with a foundation budget: funding comes out of the protocol, and it is tied to a vote.
What Dash delivers on privacy – and what it does not
This is where the most common misunderstanding sits. Dash does not obscure payments automatically. The feature is opt-in and works by mixing: several users pool equal-sized amounts so that attribution becomes harder. That is something different from Monero, where obscuring is the default, and different from Zcash, which works with cryptographic proofs. For valuation this cuts both ways: Dash is not a leader on privacy, but it can demonstrate a transparent default mode – an argument that may count in the dispute over admission at supervised venues. Which side prevails is open.
The supply: 18.9 million and no unlock calendar
The maximum supply is 18,900,000 DASH. In circulation are 12,875,079 DASH, and that is at the same time the reported total supply – so roughly 68 percent of the maximum has been issued. The remaining six million or so arise from ongoing emission, which declines in small steps rather than in halvings. Two figures matter for valuation: market capitalisation stands at around 654.91 million US dollars, the fully diluted value at around 961.38 million US dollars. The gap between the two is the future supply, and it spreads over decades, not over months. That is the essential difference from a young token with monthly unlocks.
The EU deadline that decides the trading venues
The biggest open question is not a technical one. According to the available accounts, the EU anti-money-laundering regulation obliges supervised crypto service providers to remove anonymity-enhancing coins from their offering by July 2027; Dash is named there alongside Monero and Zcash. Two qualifications belong with this, and they appear in the same accounts: the obligation applies to supervised providers, not to holders – self-custody and person-to-person payment remain possible. And the classification of an asset with opt-in rather than default obscuring is, according to the same sources, not conclusively settled. We therefore carry this point as a high-weighted risk, not as an established event.
How broadly DASH is traded
On 22 October 2026, 20 centralised exchanges each reported more than one million US dollars of daily turnover in DASH, among them seven major ones: Binance with around 11.82 million, Kraken with 3.47 million, HTX with 3.37 million, KuCoin with 3.18 million, Coinbase Exchange with 2.59 million, OKX with 1.33 million and MEXC with 1.07 million US dollars – together around 26.82 million US dollars. Of 117 spot pairs evaluated, the data provider itself excluded 43 from the count; those are stripped out. Practically no volume falls to decentralised venues, unlike with many younger tokens. One caveat remains, and it belongs here because it concerns the quality of the figure: the largest single venue is YoBit with around 28.01 million US dollars, just under 29 percent of the counted volume – and we do not carry YoBit as a major venue. By comparison, volume in the older payment networks Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash spreads more widely across supervised venues.
