Across Protocol (ACX) leaves Bitvavo on October 27: what counts now

Bitvavo ends trading in Across Protocol on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 14:00 CET and pays out only until 15:00 CET. Leave your ACX there beyond that and euros land in your account automatically by November 5.

If you hold Across Protocol (ACX) at Bitvavo, a six-day deadline is running down. The Dutch exchange has announced that it will remove the token from trading: on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, buying and selling end at 14:00 CET, and at 15:00 CET the window for withdrawals closes. Whatever is still in the account after that, Bitvavo converts into euros itself by November 5, 2026.

That leaves three routes, and one of them decides itself if you do nothing. The automatic conversion is not a neutral administrative step but a sale, with everything that follows for tax. This article sorts out the times, the costs and the consequences for holders in Germany.

Bitvavo removes ACX: the three times on October 27

A delisting at Bitvavo is not a single cut but a relay of three deadlines on the same day. The exchange names them separately in its notice, and the gaps are tight:

  • 13:00 CET — deposits of ACX into the Bitvavo account close. Transferring tokens in from outside after that means relying on a credit that is no longer provided for.
  • 14:00 CET — buying and selling end. That is the last moment at which you can swap ACX on the exchange itself into euros or another coin.
  • 15:00 CET — withdrawals to an external wallet close. After that the token cannot leave the exchange.

The hour between 14:00 and 15:00 CET is easy to overlook. Trading is already shut by then, but withdrawals are still open. If you missed the selling window, this hour still allows self-custody instead of waiting for the automatic conversion. The reverse also holds: after 15:00 CET every decision of your own is over.

What happens to staking in progress

If your ACX sits in Bitvavo's staking offering, you do not have to unwind it yourself. The exchange says it ends staking automatically before trading closes, after which the holding becomes freely available in the account again. That is convenient, but it shifts nothing about the deadlines: the released holding falls under the same three times as any other ACX balance.

Forced conversion into euros: what happens to residual balances by November 5

If ACX remains in the account after October 27, the exchange steps in. Bitvavo says it will convert remaining balances into euros automatically on Thursday, November 5, 2026, or earlier. What counts is the market price at the moment of conversion, not the price on the announcement day and not the price when trading closed.

This point deserves attention because it takes price control out of your hands. Up to nine days lie between October 27 and November 5, during which ACX trades without the Bitvavo order book. Which price the exchange applies for the conversion is not fixed in advance. Sell yourself and you see the price you sell at. Wait and you learn it afterwards.

Technically the process is nothing new at Bitvavo. The same mechanism ran for ICX in October, and we described at the time how the forced conversion at a Bitvavo delisting played out. The pattern is the same every time: three times of day, then a grace period of about a week, then euros.

At the end, every residual balance arrives in the same currency: whatever is left by November 5 is converted into euros by Bitvavo itself.

Sell, withdraw or do nothing: the three routes for ACX holders

Everything you can decide before October 27 comes down to three options. They differ in cost, in effort and in who sets the price at the end.

First, selling on the exchange. Until 14:00 CET you can swap ACX at Bitvavo into euros or another asset. The usual trading fee that Bitvavo charges on spot business applies. How that fee bites on small amounts depends heavily on the spread, because for a token with a thin order book the gap between buying and selling price often costs more than the fee itself.

Second, withdrawing to your own wallet. Until 15:00 CET Bitvavo transfers ACX to an external address. The exchange names two conditions: the destination address must be in your name, and a network fee applies. This is the only route that keeps the token instead of turning it into euros.

Third, doing nothing. It is a decision too, even if it does not feel like one. You receive euros, you pay no withdrawal fee, and you give up control over the moment of sale.

Holding period and exemption limit: why the forced conversion is a sale

For tax purposes the automatic conversion into euros is not an administrative measure by the exchange but a disposal of your coins. That is the point at which a delisting goes beyond the question “how do I get my money out?” for German investors.

Under the law as it stands, private crypto transactions in Germany are subject to the one-year holding period: hold for more than twelve months and you sell tax-free. If the purchase is less than a year old, the gain counts among private disposals, for which an exemption limit of 1,000 euros a year applies. The planned move to a flat withholding tax is a draft bill, not a law; the cabinet reading expected for October 14, 2026 did not take place.

That leaves one simple test question: when did you buy the ACX? If the purchase is more than a year old, the timing of the disposal is irrelevant for tax, and the automatic conversion costs you only price control. If it falls inside a year, the result lands in your current tax year, and then it matters whether the conversion takes effect in 2026 or later. On Bitvavo's announcement, November 5, 2026 sits clearly within the current year.

A loss is the more likely outcome

With ACX the direction is unambiguous. According to CoinGecko the token traded at $0.0484 on October 21, 2026, around 0.0431 euros. The all-time high stood at $1.69 on December 6, 2024; the price is 97.1 percent below that. Buy early and you are therefore realising a loss with high probability rather than a gain.

How such a loss counts depends again on the holding period: inside the year it can be offset against gains from other private disposals, beyond the one-year mark it is irrelevant for tax. Because the paperwork for these cases is easily lost in a forced conversion, it is worth saving the exchange's statement while the account still shows the transaction.

Withdrawing to your own wallet is the only route that keeps the token, and it ends at 15:00 CET on October 27.

Across Protocol becomes a US company: the background to the token

The delisting does not come out of nowhere. Across Protocol is a bridge that settles transfers between Ethereum and connected networks, and its operator Risk Labs proposed in March 2026 to abandon the existing DAO structure and move the protocol into a US corporation. The Defiant and CoinDesk were among those reporting it; on their account, ACX holders were to be able to swap their tokens for equity or hand them in for a cash payment.

In that form the process was without precedent, and it explains why large venues have been removing the token from their lists since the summer. Binance ended spot trading in ACX on August 17, 2026 according to consistent reports. Bitvavo now follows on October 27.

On the exact terms of the swap offer the available secondary sources contradict one another, especially on when the deadline ends. We wrote up the conditions known at the time on August 18, 2026 in a separate piece on the swap of ACX into equity. If you want to examine the swap route, rely on Across's official channels rather than third-party dates that differ by weeks.

Why self-custody counts for more here

A token following a corporate restructuring may require an action from the holder: a registration, a signature, a proof. Such steps generally presuppose that you control the private keys of the address holding the tokens. A balance in an exchange account does not meet that condition, because the exchange holds the keys. That is a factual argument for withdrawing and against waiting, regardless of how the price develops until November 5.

ACX at $0.0484: what the price says about residual liquidity

A look at the numbers shows the scale of what is happening here. According to CoinGecko, the market value of ACX stood at around $34.1 million on October 21, 2026, with trading volume over the past 24 hours at about $1.11 million. The token ranks 653rd. Roughly 704.66 million ACX are in circulation out of a maximum supply of one billion.

In the short term the price has recovered: up 9.00 percent in 24 hours, up 12.52 percent over seven days and up 10.64 percent over 30 days. That sounds friendlier than it is for the wind-down. A daily volume of a good million dollars spreads across all venues, and when another regulated venue falls away, the order book gets thinner, not thicker.

In practice: a larger position cannot be unwound in a thin market without a price concession. If you want to sell, you have until 14:00 CET on October 27 and would do well to look at the spread rather than fire off a market order blind.

A run of delistings at Bitvavo: ICX, Kava, Nano and SWEAT in review

ACX is not the first token Bitvavo has removed from trading this year. September caught Kava, Nano and Ravencoin, early October the Sweatcoin token SWEAT, and shortly after that ICX. The pattern is built the same way every time, which makes it predictable: announcement, three times of day on a Tuesday or Friday, then automatic conversion into euros within about a week.

Anyone holding several smaller positions at one exchange should turn that into a habit and actually read their provider's notices. A delisting is announced, but it is announced only there. If you are spread across several venues, it helps to look at which providers operate under European supervision and how they handle such wind-downs; our overview of regulated crypto exchanges sorts the houses by licence and domicile.

After October 27: where ACX remains tradable

An honest answer to that question needs current data from each venue, and those change fast. What is certain: two large venues that are easy for German investors to reach fall away, Binance since August 17 and Bitvavo as of October 27. Decentralised venues on Ethereum and connected networks remain technically reachable, but they presuppose your own wallet, and that wallet has to be filled before 15:00 CET on October 27.

If you want to keep the token, the order is therefore fixed: set up the wallet and check the address first, then withdraw, then think about further trading. Reverse the steps and you stand there on October 28 with a balance the exchange decides over.

ACX delisting: there is time until 15:00 CET on October 27

The deadline is short, but it is unambiguous, and it leaves you three orderly steps:

  1. Establish purchase date and holding. Check in the Bitvavo account how many ACX are there and when you bought them. Whether the one-year holding period has expired decides the tax treatment. For documentation across several exchanges, the tools from our comparison of crypto tax software and portfolio trackers help.
  2. Decide between selling and withdrawing, before 14:00 CET. If you want euros, sell yourself and you see the price. If you want to keep the token, you need an address in your name; which devices qualify is set out in our hardware wallet comparison.
  3. Document the conversion if you wait. Save the statement for the conversion as soon as it appears in the account, at the latest after November 5.
