Internet Computer in autumn 2026: a comeback with government clients
Internet Computer (ICP) was one of the few large altcoins to rise against the market in September 2026: from around 2.40 US dollars at the start of the month to a peak of 3.56 US dollars on 30 September. The rise was carried by news from the DFINITY Foundation ecosystem, including a government messaging platform in Pakistan that has run on its own ICP subnet for a month, and the Caffeine AI platform, which builds applications from plain-language prompts.
A big crash, a long bottoming
The history matters: right after trading started in May 2021, ICP traded above 200 US dollars; by the end of 2021 it was around 24 US dollars. In 2025 it fell below 2 US dollars at times. Anyone valuing ICP today is valuing a recovery from a very low level, not a young trend.

What is Internet Computer (ICP)?
Internet Computer is a blockchain from the Swiss DFINITY Foundation on which not only transactions but entire web applications run, data and interface included. The building blocks are called canisters. Developers pay for computation with so-called cycles, which are created from ICP; that burns ICP. At the same time new ICP are issued as rewards for network nodes and for taking part in network votes. There is no fixed maximum supply.

What actually moves the ICP price
The key is the balance between burning and new issuance. Supply only shrinks if applications consume more computation than the network pays out in rewards. Real users such as the government application in Pakistan therefore matter more than any announcement. A second driver is AI: Caffeine is meant to let applications be built directly on the network, creating demand for computation.
Where this forecast could fail
If usage stays behind issuance, supply keeps diluting, and every rise meets sellers who have been under water for years. On top of that, large networks such as Ethereum and Solana compete for the same developers, and in AI projects such as Bittensor do.
