Luno Rating
Our Opinion
For users in the affected European markets, Luno is no longer a usable provider. The company has begun withdrawing from those regions, citing a focus on its core markets across Africa and South East Asia. It does not hold authorisation under MiCA, which has been required to operate in the EU since 1 July 2026.
The timetable is tight and partly already past: deposits and buying were switched off on 1 June 2026, and sending crypto to external wallets ended on 29 June 2026. Existing balances can only be sold on the platform and withdrawn as fiat to a bank account — and that option ends on 31 August 2026. Affected accounts close on 1 September 2026.
Anyone still holding a balance with Luno should not postpone selling and withdrawing to their own bank account. Amounts remaining after the deadline require manual processing through support, and from December monthly fees can apply that will erode smaller residual balances. For a fresh start Luno is not an option in these markets — providers holding MiCA authorisation are available instead.
