The five areas head to head

AI Analysis

Fees & Costs

Bitget
Bitget

Users more often express criticism in the reviews when it comes to fees and costs. Users report that the fees are sometimes perceived as high. As a result, this cost area is described by some users as having room for improvement.

MetaMask
MetaMask

The wallet itself is free; network fees go to the respective blockchain rather than the provider. The cost driver is the built-in services: swapping directly in the wallet carries a noticeable markup above the cost of the same swap through an exchange or aggregator. Frequent swappers should avoid that route. As of August 2026.

Usability & User Experience

Bitget
Bitget

Users especially appreciate Bitget's intuitive app and its ease of use in everyday trading. According to reviews, the interface is often described as clear, although some users occasionally perceive it as confusing. The quick verification process and smooth trading workflows are also mentioned positively.

MetaMask
MetaMask

Getting started is straightforward, though the volume of networks, settings and built-in services can overwhelm newcomers. Handling the recovery phrase safely remains central — without it, funds are permanently lost. As of August 2026.

Features & Offering

Bitget
Bitget

According to reviews, users particularly praise copy trading, as well as the wide range of promotions and events on the platform. Users report an overall broad offering that can be used well in everyday trading. Occasionally, users would like additional convenience features such as a landscape view on the iPad, the return of certain icons, or more offers for specific regions.

Supported are Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks, Solana, Bitcoin and Tron, with addresses derived from a shared recovery phrase. NFT management, access to decentralised applications, phishing detection, transaction warnings and hardware wallet pairing round this out. Available as a browser extension and mobile app. As of August 2026.

Stability & Security

Verdict

In our overall rating Bitget leads with 4.9 against 4.1 for MetaMask.

For most investors Bitget is therefore the better choice.

BitgetOur Opinion

Bitget is especially valued for its large selection of over 1080 cryptocurrencies and low spot fees starting at 0.1%. In addition, the copy trading and bot trading features are considered a standout offering, which is viewed particularly positively by active traders. Futures fees starting at 0.02% are among the lowest in the comparison.

However, it should be noted that Bitget does not have EU regulation or a BaFin license and is headquartered in the Seychelles. This aspect is seen by security-conscious investors as having room for improvement. The lack of a savings plan and the user interface with numerous popups after login are also occasionally criticized.

Bitget is considered especially suitable for experienced traders who prioritize a large coin selection, copy trading, and low trading fees, and are willing to do without EU regulation.

MetaMaskOur Opinion

MetaMask is the entry point to Web3 for many users and by some distance the most widely used software wallet. For a long time it was a pure Ethereum and EVM wallet; that has changed. Solana arrived in 2025, native Bitcoin support followed in December 2025 and Tron in January 2026. Separate addresses for the different networks are derived from a single recovery phrase, so there is no second seed to manage.

The strength remains connectivity: practically every decentralised application in the EVM world supports MetaMask, and the wallet pairs with a hardware wallet so keys never leave the device. Phishing detection and transaction warnings are built in.

The weak point is the cost of the built-in services. Swapping directly inside the wallet carries a markup well above what the same swap costs through an exchange or aggregator. The wallet itself is free — it is the convenience route that gets expensive. As with any self-custody setup, there is no deposit protection and no counterparty to call if the recovery phrase is lost.
