Educational forecast, not financial advice

Forecasts are projections based on historical patterns and editorial assumptions. Crypto markets are volatile and outcomes can differ significantly from these scenarios.

How we calculate this

Data sources

For our crypto forecasts we combine several data points:

  • Current price & historical data: live market data and daily history from CoinMarketCap.
  • Market sentiment: the Fear & Greed Index from alternative.me as an indicator of market mood.
  • Market size: total crypto market capitalisation, to put any move in context.

How we calculate the minimum, average and maximum prices

For each year our analysis team defines three scenarios – a conservative one (minimum), an expected one (average) and an optimistic one (maximum). We express these scenarios as a percentage change against the previous year.

The starting point is the price on the first trading day of the current year (taken from CoinMarketCap's historical data). We apply the annual scenarios to that starting value cumulatively: each new yearly figure builds on the previous year's value, multiplied by the respective percentage change of the scenario.

Example: starting price $40,000, average scenario for year 1 = +20%, year 2 = +15% → average price year 1 = $48,000, year 2 = $55,200.

What shapes the scenarios

When setting the annual scenarios we take into account, among other things:

  • Macroeconomic trends (interest rate policy, inflation, US dollar strength)
  • Coin-specific factors (halvings, roadmap, adoption, tokenomics)
  • Market cycle phase (accumulation, bull run, correction, bear market)
  • Regulatory developments in the key markets (US, EU, Asia)
  • Institutional adoption (ETFs, treasuries, corporate holdings)

Important note

This forecast is a scenario model, not investment advice. Crypto markets are highly volatile. Black swan events (hacks, regulatory intervention, market crashes) can make reality diverge sharply from any scenario. Never base investment decisions on forecasts alone – diversify, and only invest what you can afford to lose.

How we weight our methods for Solana

Not every analytical tool suits every crypto asset. This overview shows what we actually rely on for Solana – and what we deliberately leave out.

MethodWeightWhy
Unlock calendarhighSolana has ongoing unlocks from early-stage holdings. Additional supply acts independently of how demand develops.
Fee revenuehighAt fractions of a cent, transaction counts say little. What users actually pay separates real usage from noise.
Flows into institutional productshighMeasurable for the first time since the NYSE Arca spot ETF approval in July 2026 – the same channel that has shaped Bitcoin since 2024.
Network stabilityhighSolana has had several outages. Any further one would strike the core promise, and with it the basis of the valuation.
Support and resistancemediumThe zone around $74 to $75 was defended repeatedly in 2026 and is therefore of practical relevance.
Fibonacci retracementslowWithout a complete cycle history, the frame of reference that would make retracements meaningful is missing.
Cycle and halving analysisnot applicableSolana has no halving, and its price history does not span a full cycle. We therefore do not extrapolate any growth phase in a straight line.

Because Solana lacks the data for cycle comparisons, we work with markedly flatter curves than for Bitcoin – that is the main reason our targets come out more conservative than many other forecasts.

Bullish Factors vs. Bearish Factors

What could drive the price up or down

Bullish Factors

  • Alpenglow replaces TowerBFT on mainnet

Since October 21, 2026, Solana's validators have reached consensus through Alpenglow: their votes travel as aggregated BLS signatures rather than as individual transactions, and a flat admission fee of 0.8 SOL per epoch is burned. Validators approved the upgrade in September 2025 with 98.27 percent of votes cast. On October 9, Solana had already halved its slot time to 200 milliseconds. (as of October 2026)

  • More DEX trading than Ethereum on an eighth of the capital

In the 24 hours to October 19, decentralised exchanges on Solana handled $1.57 billion against $706 million on Ethereum, even though Solana's applications hold only about an eighth of the capital (DefiLlama). In tokenised equities, Solana took around 31 percent of weekly volume across all blockchains in mid-October, leading for the first time in 14 weeks. (as of October 2026)

  • Up 53 percent from the August low

From its low of $70.69 on August 1, Solana recovered to around $108 by October 21, a gain of 53 percent; over 90 days it is up 42 percent. The $100 area held in October, with a monthly low of $100.51 on October 18, even though Nasdaq-listed SkyAI sold just over 2 million SOL by October 15. (as of October 2026)

Bearish Factors

  • Around 22.9 million new SOL a year

On October 18 (epoch 1061) the inflation rate stood at 3.60 percent of the total supply of 636 million SOL, or around 22.9 million new tokens a year and just over 62,000 a day. At the October 21 price that is close to $2.5 billion of new supply annually, more than the $1.56 billion in net inflows all US spot Solana ETFs have gathered since launch. (as of October 2026)

  • Stablecoins and locked capital are leaving

The stablecoin base on Solana fell by $1.49 billion to $15.96 billion between September 25 and October 17, and total value locked dropped by $670 million to $5.94 billion between October 5 and 16 (DefiLlama). The price slid 19 percent from its monthly high of $123.48 on October 2 to October 18 and on October 21 stood 63 percent below its January 2025 record. (as of October 2026)

  • New consensus meets seven outages since 2020

Since its mainnet launch in 2020, Solana has halted block production completely seven times, most recently in February 2024. Alpenglow has run consensus since October 21, 2026 and has yet to prove itself under load: a network-wide migration attempt on testnet failed beforehand and was rolled back, and the second component, Rotor, still has no date. (as of October 2026)

Latest · October 21, 2026The switch is happening today: Alpenglow activates on mainnet at the start of epoch 1064, around 13:20 UTC according to the project’s own page – an estimate, because epoch start times drift with slot timing. The handover is staggered: TowerBFT keeps running for the first 5,000 slots, and the new consensus only takes over at slot 459,653,000, roughly 18 minutes later. Validators need Agave, Jito-Solana or Harmonic Salsa at version 4.3.2; Firedancer and Frankendancer are explicitly unsupported during the migration. Whether the change holds will only show in live operation – the goal remains cutting finality from around 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds.

Solana in October 2026: strong ecosystem, weak price

Solana stood at around $108 on October 21, 2026, far below its cycle highs, but with remarkably resilient usage: a large share of on-chain trading (including perp DEXes such as Jupiter and Velocity, formerly Drift) runs on Solana, and with the launch of crypto trading at Morgan Stanley's E*TRADE, SOL reaches mainstream US retail brokers for the first time. The gap between fundamental activity and price has rarely been this wide.

Solana's risk-reward profile

SOL is the high-beta investment among the major coins: in upswings Solana has historically run harder than BTC and ETH – in downswings it falls further. Holding SOL requires a correspondingly higher tolerance for risk.

What actually moves the Solana price

Solana is built for throughput: the chain processes transactions in parallel rather than sequentially, which puts fees at a fraction of a cent. That has attracted a user base which would not be economically viable on Ethereum – meme coin trading, high-frequency applications, tokenised equities. In July 2026, weekly transactions passed the one billion mark for the first time.

That focus is also the greatest weakness. A substantial share of the activity is speculative and disappears as soon as attention moves on. Valuing Solana means separating two things: what is recurring usage, and what is the cyclical peak of a single narrative?

The metrics we watch on Solana

  • Fee revenue rather than transaction count: billions of cheap transactions say little. What are users actually paying?
  • Institutional access: the US spot Solana ETFs have gathered around $1.56 billion in net inflows since launch (mid-October 2026); in July 2026 NYSE Arca also approved a Morgan Stanley fund with a 0.14 percent fee. The week of October 5 to 9 brought the first net outflow since launch.
  • Network stability: Solana has suffered several outages in the past. Any further one would strike directly at its core promise.
  • Tokenised assets: volume beyond meme coins is the evidence that the network is maturing.

Why Solana is treated differently in the forecast model

Solana has no complete cycle history and carries ongoing inflation from staking rewards on top. We therefore do not extrapolate any of its strong growth phases in a straight line, but work with markedly flatter curves – the track record here contains too few data points for confidence.

How this forecast could fail

A prolonged network outage during a stress phase, trading activity migrating to newer chains, or the meme coin boom fading without a viable replacement would all invalidate the model. The Alpenglow upgrade, which shortens confirmation times and went live on mainnet on October 21, 2026 after slipping from the third quarter, is the counterpoint: whether it delivers in sustained operation is worth watching.

Solana price prediction for October 2026: what the month can deliver

Solana enters October around $118 – after a September that carried the price from $103 to $118, a gain of roughly 14.6 percent. The range the month is most likely to play out in sits between the monthly low of $96.20 and the September high at $125.

What opens the month to the upside: a sustained close above the September high of $125, set on September 27. Above that, our own 2026 range extends to $176.

What tips it over: a break of the September low of $96.20, set on September 16. Below it there would be room down to the lower end of our 2026 range at $82.10.

The dates that decide it: the US jobs report on October 2, consumer prices on October 14 and the Fed’s rate decision on October 28 – this time without updated projections. The PCE deflator and the ECB’s rate decision follow on October 29.

Solana price prediction 2026 to 2033: the scenarios

Short term (2026): the $100 zone is the key

The $70 zone defended in August 2026 carried a recovery to almost $125 by late September; in October the $100 area absorbed the pullbacks, with a low of $100.51 on October 18. If that zone holds, the high level of network activity argues for another run at the September highs. New distribution channels such as E*TRADE could act as a catalyst. A break below the September lows around $96 would activate the bearish scenario.

Medium term (2027–2028): the usage lever

Solana earns real fees from DeFi, perp and meme coin activity. In the base case the valuation rises markedly with the next market cycle; in the bullish case SOL tests its former highs. Institutional products (ETFs, staking offerings) would be the amplifier.

Long term (through 2033): the consumer chain thesis

Over the long run Solana is betting on being the chain for everyday applications – payments, trading, gaming. If that works, the potential is considerable; but the competition (Ethereum L2s, newer chains) remains fierce.

Risks to the Solana forecast

Network stability under extreme load, the dependence of activity on meme coins, validator concentration, and the general high-beta behaviour in bear markets.
