Aster in autumn 2026: buybacks against a large supply
Aster (ASTER) is the token of the decentralised perpetual futures exchange of the same name on BNB Chain. In September 2026 the price moved between 0.66 and 0.87 US dollars and ended the month at around 0.75 US dollars. The all-time high of 3.00 US dollars dates from its first trading day on Binance on 6 October 2025.
What changed in September
Aster pushed the unlock of 400 million team tokens back by a year to 17 September 2027. Between 7 and 21 September, according to Aster, 99 percent of daily fees went into buybacks: 4.16 million ASTER went to stakers and the same amount was burned from the team allocation. The goal is to cut supply from 8 to 3 billion tokens.

What actually moves the Aster price
Trading volume and fees are decisive, because they fund the buybacks. How Aster compares with its rival Lighter is covered in Aster vs Lighter, the full field in our best perp DEX comparison. Whether ASTER is a good buy at the current price is examined in our buying analysis.
Where this forecast could fail
The market for decentralised perpetuals is fiercely contested, above all by Hyperliquid and Lighter. If volume falls, buybacks shrink while two thirds of supply are not yet circulating.
