Aerodrome Finance in October 2026: The largest trading venue on Base against its own emission
Aerodrome Finance (AERO) is the governance token of the largest decentralised trading venue on Base, the Ethereum extension built by Coinbase. The protocol is an automated market maker – it sources trades from liquidity pools rather than from an order book – which places it in the same group as Uniswap and Curve. The price stands at around 0.7287 US dollars on 24 October 2026 – some 43 per cent below the twelve-month high of 1.2856 US dollars from 11 November 2025, and roughly 2.65 times the twelve-month low of 0.2745 US dollars from 11 February 2026.
What has changed in recent weeks
Two moves in opposite directions. First September, which turned the year around: AERO opened the month at 0.4726 US dollars, marked a high of 0.9286 US dollars and closed at 0.8225 US dollars. Over 90 days that leaves a gain of roughly 73 per cent, over 60 days a gain of roughly 30 per cent. Second October, which gave part of it back: the month opened at 0.8226 US dollars, marked its high at 0.9904 US dollars and its low at 0.7240 US dollars; the daily close on 23 October was 0.7310 US dollars. Over seven days that leaves a loss of roughly 17 per cent, over 30 days still a gain of roughly 7 per cent.
Why this forecast is cautious
The demand side is the strong part of the calculation: the protocol has a product that generates fees, and it is the main trading venue of a chain operated by a large US exchange. The weak spot is on the supply side, and it is measurable: of a reported total supply of 2,127,701,006 AERO, 1,124,529,293 are in circulation – roughly 53 per cent. Market capitalisation stands at around 819.48 million US dollars, the fully diluted value at around 1,550.46 million US dollars. That gap is not an unlock calendar with fixed dates but a continuous emission: the protocol keeps issuing new AERO to those who provide liquidity. Our scenarios therefore start from the price on the first trading day of the year, 0.4021 US dollars, and the average value for 2026 sits below today’s price.

What Aerodrome Finance is and what the price depends on
Aerodrome is first of all a trading venue, not a payment network. It does not run on a chain of its own but as a program on Base, an extension of Ethereum developed by Coinbase. Anyone swapping two tokens there trades against a liquidity pool that other users have filled, and pays a fee for it. Aerodrome shares this basic pattern with Uniswap; the difference lies in who decides which pools get supported.
The ve(3,3) model: voting rights in exchange for a lock-up
AERO is not merely a trading token but a voting right. Anyone who locks AERO for a fixed term receives veAERO and may vote on which liquidity pools receive the newly issued AERO. The fees of the supported pool flow to those who voted for it. This model comes from the family of ve tokenomics introduced by Curve; Aerodrome emerged from Velodrome on Optimism and carried the approach over to Base. For valuation the mechanism cuts both ways: it ties up supply as long as locks are extended, and at the same time it creates the supply that has to be tied up.
Why the chain behind the protocol matters
Aerodrome depends on Base, and Base depends on a company. That is a difference from trading venues on Ethereum itself or on Solana: Base is operated by Coinbase, which ties demand for trading on this chain to the decisions and the reach of a supervised company. The counter-argument: that same connection is a substantial reason why Base has users at all. On the extensions Arbitrum and Optimism, by contrast, trading is spread across several venues without a single dominant operator in the background.
Supply: a continuous emission instead of an unlock calendar
This is the most important point for any forecast. The data provider reports no maximum supply. In circulation are 1,124,529,293 AERO, while the reported total supply is 2,127,701,006 AERO – roughly 53 per cent has therefore been issued. The gap between the market capitalisation of around 819.48 million US dollars and the fully diluted value of around 1,550.46 million US dollars is the future supply. Unlike a token with fixed dates, it is not concentrated on individual deadlines but accrues continuously. That has a consequence worth keeping in mind when reading any forecast: the price has to keep finding new demand just to stay level. Whether the locks in veAERO tie up enough of it is the open question – a verified figure for the locked share is not available to us for today, so we do not factor it in.
How broadly AERO is traded
On 24 October 2026, ten centralised exchanges each reported more than one million US dollars of daily turnover in AERO: BitDelta with around 19.30 million, Binance with 7.75 million, Coinbase Exchange with 6.99 million, MEXC with 5.83 million, BYDFi with 3.99 million, LBank with 3.25 million, Bybit with 2.67 million, Bitget with 1.46 million, Kraken with 1.33 million and MGBX with 1.32 million US dollars – together around 53.89 million US dollars. Of 162 spot pairs evaluated, the data provider excluded one from the count itself; it has been stripped out. The distribution is notable: centralised exchanges account for roughly 88 per cent of the counted volume and decentralised pools for only around 12 per cent – even though AERO is the token of a decentralised trading venue. Five large supervised venues are represented – Binance, Coinbase Exchange, Bybit, Bitget and Kraken – with around 20.20 million US dollars between them. One caveat belongs here because it concerns the quality of the figure: the largest single venue is BitDelta with roughly 24.9 per cent of the counted volume, and we do not rank BitDelta among the large venues. By comparison, volume in Uniswap and Aave is spread more broadly across supervised venues.
