What is UPLAND CRYPTO?
Upland is a game that’s available both on Android and iOS mobile devices. Think of it as a Monopoly game where you can buy and sell real-world properties, but in the virtual space. This difference between this project and other online games that have a similar concept is that Upland has a cool Lama as their mascot. Another difference jokes aside, is that players have actual ownership in the form of cryptocurrency tokens. So when you buy a property on the game (which has a real-world address), it would belong to you, thanks to smart-contracts.
Does UPLAND have a Token?
The in-game currency which players use is UPX, which is a token that allows you to buy properties. UPX is a fungible token that runs on the EOS blockchain. On the other hand, UPX is strictly a utility token, and can ONLY be used inside the game. Therefore, it is not available to be traded on any outside exchange. This move by the creators comes as fear of US taxation and SEC lawsuits, as they do not have the proper license to deal with real-world financial securities. Other companies such as Ripple and EOS have had their fair share of problems with the SEC. At a later stage, Upland company plans to introduce a “fiat out” feature that lets players fund and withdraw their earnings.
The token is also not listed on any crypto listing websites such as CMC, as the project doesn’t fulfill their Listing Criteria, specifically section B-3.
Where in the “Virtual World” is Upland currently present?
Currently, Upland mapped three areas in the US where players can roam and purchase property in:
- Manhattan
- Fresno
- San Francisco
The company definitely is planning to expand to further areas at later stages, but for now, they have many other projects to integrate in the game such as Art NFTs, Cafes, Car dealerships, neighborhoods, car travel, battle royal and many other plans…the possibilities are endless here.
