Cost comparison
The Exodus wallet is free to download and needs no account. You pay for it mainly when you swap one cryptocurrency for another inside the app, through a spread with no stated percentage. The quarterly report shows how important that line is: in the second quarter of 2026, 18.74 of 26.23 million US dollars in revenue came from swaps, or 71.5 percent, including 3.76 million through business partners. A year earlier it was 23.42 million US dollars and 90.7 percent. Swap revenue therefore also fell in absolute terms, with swap volume down 21.4 percent, while acquired payment services added new revenue.
| Action | Cost at Exodus |
|---|---|
| Download and use the wallet | free, no account |
| Send crypto | network fee only, which according to Exodus goes entirely to the network |
| Swap in the app | any spread in the quoted rate, plus the network fee to send the coins to the swap provider |
| Buy through partners | the partner's fee, shown in the app before you buy |
| Sell through MoonPay | MoonPay's fee, shown before you sell |
| Staking via Everstake | Exodus receives a fee from Everstake, and the coins stay under your control |
How to check the spread: enter the amount in the app, note how much you would receive and compare it with the market price. The gap is your cost. On a 1,000 euro swap, a 0.5% spread costs about 5 euros and 2% about 20 euros, plus the network fee. If you regularly move larger amounts, an exchange with a published fee schedule from our exchange comparison is often cheaper, and you withdraw the coins to your own wallet afterwards.
Tax: in many countries a swap counts as selling one asset and buying another, so it can be a taxable event. A tool from our crypto tax software comparison reads your addresses and keeps the records.
For the part of your holdings you plan to keep for longer, a device from our hardware wallet comparison is worth it; our guide to hot and cold wallets explains the difference. More wallets are compared in our software wallet comparison.

Trust Wallet itself is free: no account, no account or subscription fee. Costs only arise with transactions, and the app shows them before you confirm. For swaps in the app, Trust Wallet charges 0.7% according to its own figures, already included in the quoted rate.

When buying, compare the partner quotes in the app: by bank transfer EUR 1,000 often costs EUR 5 to 15, by card EUR 25 to 40. Verdict
Both providers are practically level in our overall rating (4.0 to 4.0).
Exodus is the wallet for anyone who values a clear interface and wants to manage several coins in one place. Desktop and mobile, 50+ networks, swaps, purchases and staking in one app plus Trezor and Ledger support: for getting started with self-custody it is one of the most convenient options.
You should understand the business model. Exodus is listed and discloses how it earns money: in the second quarter of 2026, 18.74 of 26.23 million US dollars in revenue came from swaps, or 71.5 percent, including 3.76 million through business partners. The price sits in the rate as a spread with no stated percentage. If you only hold and send, you pay almost nothing; if you swap often, check the numbers first.
For long-term holdings, pair it with a hardware wallet, which Exodus supports directly. And as with any software wallet, responsibility lies with you: your backup is the only way back to your funds, meaning the twelve words and, in the mobile app, optionally a passkey.
Trust Wallet is the most approachable of the major software wallets. The design is built consistently around the smartphone, setup takes a few minutes and no account is required. With more than 100 supported networks it covers more chains than most competitors, including Bitcoin, which sets it apart from pure EVM wallets.
One thing to know: Trust Wallet has belonged to Binance since 2018. That does not change self-custody: keys stay on the user's device and the code is open source. It does remain a concentration question when exchange and wallet come from the same house.
Desktop use is weaker: the browser extension does not match the mobile app in functionality. And as with any self-custody setup there is no deposit protection and no counterparty if the recovery phrase is lost, while support is reported to be slow when needed.
