Flow in August 2026: Plenty of Usage, Little Valuation
FLOW is trading at around $0.030 – a fraction of previous cycle highs, even though the network ranks among the more active in the industry by consumer metrics. The blockchain founded by Dapper Labs has for years carried licensed mass-market applications such as NBA Top Shot, with more than 1.6 million collectors and over $1.2 billion in lifetime revenue, alongside NFL All Day and Disney Pinnacle. In the first quarter of 2026, Flow passed the 40-million-account mark. Technically the network has repositioned itself: since the 2024 Crescendo upgrade, Flow has been EVM-compatible, and the Forte upgrade from October 2025 brought composable on-chain automation through “Actions”.
Caught between consumer reach and token weakness
Flow's strength is real end users reached through sports and entertainment brands – a rare asset. The weakness: this usage has so far barely translated into token demand. Fees are low, staking emissions dilute continuously, and in the smart-contract race Flow competes against far larger ecosystems. FLOW is a bet that consumer reach eventually gets monetised.
What actually moves the Flow price
FLOW is the network's staking, gas and reserve asset. On the supply side, ongoing emissions for validators and delegators effectively arrive as net dilution given low fee revenue. On the demand side sits the activity of consumer apps – from collectibles to ticketing – along with the growing EVM ecosystem that has been open to Ethereum developers since Crescendo. The price also responds to the health of Dapper Labs itself, since the most important applications still come from that company.
The metrics we watch for Flow
- Fee revenue: at fractions of a cent per transaction, only the amount actually paid separates real demand from noise.
- Flagship app revenue: NBA Top Shot and peers are the core of usage – their marketplace revenue shows whether the consumer business is growing or stagnating.
- EVM traction: the number and volume of DeFi and consumer projects that have set up since Crescendo.
- Net dilution: staking emissions versus burned fees – this balance determines structural supply pressure.
Why millions of accounts don't guarantee token value
Flow illustrates the gap between usage and token metrics perhaps better than any other network: someone buying an NBA collectible never has to knowingly touch FLOW – that's exactly what makes the apps mass-market friendly, but it decouples the token from the platform's success. As long as fees stay low and emissions keep flowing, the price benefits only indirectly from that reach. This decoupling is the main reason FLOW trades so low despite solid usage numbers.
What could break this forecast
Our scenarios assume the licensed sports partnerships persist and Dapper Labs remains financially viable. If Flow loses one of its major licenses, or the EVM strategy fails to attract meaningful projects, the base case loses its foundation.
