Breaking: Microsoft Integrates Bitcoin

Microsoft has added support for cryptocurrency in its latest Excel update, according to the Reddit user the tech giant is reported to have incorporated the Bitcoin Core (BTC) symbol within its Excel update.

In the past Microsoft founder Bill Gates has had less friendly words for cryptocurrencies.

As an asset class, you’re not producing anything and so you shouldn’t expect it to go up. It’s kind of pure ‘greater fool theory’ type of investment…I agree I would short it if there was an easy way to do it.

Now there is news that Bitcoin is listed in the Office Excel program in the list of currencies found in cell formatting. This function sets the currency symbol, as desired, before or after the number in a cell.

It has also recently been revealed that the company is planning a decentralized identity network on the bitcoin blockchain with the ION project (Identity Overlay Network). It is designed to allow users to manage their identity on the blockchain and make it easy to interact with other applications, without having to rely on one central company. This shows that Microsoft is taking Distributed Ledger technology seriously. You seem to have learned from the sleep of the smartphone hype.

What does the whole thing mean?

This purely technically considered small intervention has a higher symbolic character. Clearly another indication that Bitcoin has good cards to become popular. It is unlikely that this update was responsible for the sharp rise in prices in recent days. Anyway, the community is sure Bitcoin is here to stay and that one of the biggest software companies in the world is taking the first step with this is a positive sign for Bitcoin.
