ConsenSys Brings Kaleido to AWS

ConsenSys collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer Kaleido, a new Blockchain Business Cloud that radically simplifies the creation and operation of private blockchain networks.

Many are eager to benefit from blockchain technology but have struggled to move experimental projects forward into live production networks. A live blockchain network requires a shared IT infrastructure across all involved parties, which has proven to be difficult and costly. Some early adopters have spent years of time and money developing custom code, only to stall or end the projects entirely.

Kaleido is the first Software-as-a-Service featuring Ethereum network packages Geth (private, enterprise blockchains) and Quorum (financial sector applications through JP Morgan). Other new aspects include linking between private networks and the public Ethereum mainnet, integrated analytics, and support for multiple protocol options and consensus mechanisms.

The platform runs on AWS and provides clients the ability to seamlessly connect to other popular AWS services, reducing the cost of real-world projects that often require complex integrations.

The private chain is permanently anchored to the public blockchain through the Kaleido Relay, so a network of companies can gains the benefit if decentralized data’s security. Anchoring can occur automatically at regular checkpoints to provide greater “proof of settlement finality” over all transactions, as well as on demand for specific events such as a high value trade.

ConsenSys was founded by Joseph Lubin, who was also a co-founder of Ethereum. The organization builds, consults, and launches decentralized applications using Ethereum. It is a also founding member of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, a group of now more than 500 organizations dedicated to ensuring Ethereum meets the specific needs of companies.
