We Just Brought the First BMW Apecar to Germany – Here's How it Went
In Munich, we took delivery of the world’s only unique Apecar – a BMW M235i. A true NFT highlight and cultural milestone in Germany.
ApeCar – BMW and Yuga Labs’ One-of-One NFT Car
The Apecar is more than a car – it’s a symbol of Web3 culture crossing into the real world. Created through a collaboration between BMW and the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), it’s built on the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé platform and wrapped in a golden ape-inspired design by BAYC artist Rida.
Its body is wrapped in a mosaic of ape silhouettes and loaded with M Performance upgrades.
How We Got the Apecar
In late 2024, BMW and Yuga Labs launched an exclusive raffle for BAYC/MAYC holders. Entry required a $2,350 refundable deposit, and after the drawing, an additional $100,000 purchase price was due – just to put things into perspective.
We were lucky enough to be chosen. After months of adjustments for Germany, the Apecar was finally ready for handover – though in a form we hadn’t fully expected. More about this will be shared in our upcoming behind-the-scenes article.

Delivery at BMW Welt Munich
The handover took place in the iconic BMW Welt in Munich. Driving the Apecar through the glass hall was an unforgettable moment – even though the car will officially be transported safely to its destination by truck on Monday.
We shared the first drive live on X so the community could join us in real time. The German BAYC community ApeClubDach also celebrated with us. One big point of criticism, however: no official representative from BAYC or Yuga Labs attended the handover, despite the significance of this project...
Why the ApeCar Matters
The Apecar proves that NFTs are more than profile pictures. A digital artwork has been turned into a real BMW, not through sponsorship, but because a community pushed the vision forward.
For us Apes in Germany, this is a major step – proof that Web3 is not just online hype but a tangible movement shaping Europe.
What’s Next – Looking Ahead
Not everything that was initially promised made it into the car. Planned features – including eInk technology and other unique details – are missing for now. We’ll cover these reductions in a future article, where we’ll also explain Yuga Labs’ role in this and what comes next.
Until then, we can proudly say: The one and only BMW Apecar remains in Germany, standing as a future show and art car in a prominent, worthy, and secured location.
