By all indications, the year 2020 is going to be an interesting and exciting year, for the crypto-verse. The market shows visible signs of improvement and development in the blockchain realm is at all time high. Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), central banks researching the issuance of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), Ethereum 2.0 incoming, progress in altcoins are ongoing and giving latest updates. Last, but not least, there are many crypto halvenings happening. OK, you are aware about the Bitcoin halvening, but what about the others?
What Does The Halvening Bring?
A halvening is a significant event for a crypto-asset, which sees its block rewards, divided by 2 and become half of what they were before. This causes a reduction in supply. Thus by the economic principles of supply and demand, results in the value of existing shares or units to rise.
Sero (SERO) Halvening
Sero (Sero) is a privacy focused token supporting Turing complete smart contracts through zero knowledge proofs.
SERO token expects the first halving of the mining in April this year (block height 3057600). After the first halvening commencing after block 8294400, SERO rewards will decrease from 71.2 to 35.6 tokens.
Bitcoin SV (BSV) Halvening
The controversial Bitcoin fork Bitcoin SV (BSV) owned by self proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright is also halvening in April 2020 and will see its supply decrease from 12.5 to 6.25 tokens.
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) – another hard fork and spin off of the original Bitcoin will see its supply become half by May 2020. The supply like Bitcoin will decrease from 12.5 to 6.25 tokens at Block 630,000.
Bitcoin (BTC) Halvening
The undisputed leader of the cryptocurrency world and the highest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Bitcoin (BTC) will also see its mining reward decrease by 12.5 to 6.25 BTCs. Its the highly anticipated halvening event of the year, with major implications.
ZCoin (XZC) Halvening
The original Zcoin (XZC) halvening will take place in September 2020 and will see its supply decrease by half.
ZCash (ZEC) Halvening
ZCash (ZEC) halvening will take place in Oct 2020. The total number of ZEC mined by miners per block will reduce from 12.5 ZEC to 6.25 ZEC in the next halving at block 1,046,400.
Horizen (ZEN) Halvenings
Horizen (ZEN) is a fork of ZClassic. Its halvening will take place at Block 840000 in Nov 2020. The rewards will decrease from 12.5 to 6.25 tokens.
