John Mcafee and Musk are two outsiders who are not at all strangers to the crypto world, both of them regularly make it to the news feed of crypto enthusiasts. Mostly it is for some Tweet or jaw-dropping statements. Musk recently made headlines after tweeting “crypto is my safe word”. On April 17th, Mcafee stated that he will reveal the real Satoshi and before that he said Bitcoin would reach a million dollars by the end of 2020.
One Bitcoin worth a million
As mentioned before, Mcafee is no stranger to crypto. During the ICO heydays, he made several predictions. The most famous of these is the prediction about the price of Bitcoin. On July 17, 2017, Mcafee made a bet that the price of Bitcoin would reach $500,000 by 2020. During that, the price of Bitcoin was around $3000. By December of the same year, the price reached $20000 and many thought that the bet would come true. Afterward, the price dropped steadily reaching below $4000, although the price has recovered it is unlikely that the $500,000 dollar prediction will come true any time soon. But then its Mcafee, when most are expecting prices not to reach $10,000, he revisited the bet saying it will reach a million by end of 2020.
IRS fiasco
Then there was the stunt where Mcafee deliberately poked the IRS tweeting he won’t pay income tax on his cryptocurrencies. For most people, this would be unthinkable, going after the tax agency and literally saying catch me if you can. Although the statement was public, the IRS did not pursue him. The reason for IRS letting Mcafee off the hook is unknown, this just goes to shows the erratic behavior of the old tech guru. There is no shortage for such incidents as Mcafee keeps finding ways to get the attention of others.
Satoshi’s identity to be revealed??
Recently, Mcafee made another tweet which caught a lot of attention. In the Tweet, he claims he will reveal the identity of the real Satoshi, creator of Bitcoin. In a tweet previous to this, Mcafee revealed that there were some within the crypto industry who knew who the real Satoshi is, but no one expected that he will be willing to reveal the name himself.
This is in response to Craig Wright and Calvin Ayre, who are legally trying to sue people on “harassment and libel” lawsuits to those who had claimed that he [Craig Wright] wasn’t the real the Satoshi Nakamoto. Later, Mcafee tweeted promising that he will release information one after the other which will narrow down the identity of Satoshi. Finally, this will lead to the identity of Satoshi himself. The tweet also claims that Mcafee protected the identity of Satoshi for a while. What this exactly means is not known.
It is exciting to hear that the real identity of the creator of Bitcoin will be revealed. This holds great significance as Satoshi himself holds a huge chunk of Bitcoin. But let’s be realistic, its Mcafee. It could all be a prank like when he announced he will be running to be the president of the United States of America. The chance for the real name being revealed is highly unlikely as it is still a mystery as to how Mcafee know this secret. So let’s all hold our breath and wait.
