On September 29, John E. Deaton thanked everyone on Twitter. He got the Defender of Freedom Award from the ICBLA. This award celebrated his hard work for XRP defendants. Their number grew from 12,600 to 75,000.
Why Ripple Faced the SEC
In 2020, Ripple had a problem. The SEC accused them of trading unregistered securities. This meant breaking some laws. Many individuals didn’t agree. They filed a Motion to Intervene to defend XRP. 12,600 investors wanted to become Defendants. This was a big deal. Judge Torres said it was a first.
The fact that 12,600 individual investors felt so strong about the injustice being served by the SEC, that they petitioned a Federal Judge to become Defendants, was not lost on Judge Torres, considering she took note that it had never been done.

I accepted this generous award on behalf of 75K people who were willing to fight back. People like @naomibrockwell who said go ahead and use my name and example – in Court – against the Government! https://t.co/p3mYEqwQtT
XRP Community Stands Strong
The XRP community worked hard. They gave 3,600 Affidavits to the court. These papers had many details about Ripple’s deals. Judge Analisa Torres looked at them. She didn’t agree with the SEC.
