#AuctionUpdate Curio Cards, a set of 31 NFTs considered to be the oldest artworks on the Ethereum blockchain sold for ETH 393 (USD$1,267,320) in our Post-War to Present sale — marking the 1st auction with live bidding to be conducted in Ether https://t.co/eCSykerZVr pic.twitter.com/XKM8FANkYj
The Curio Cards were a part of the Post-War to Present collection, which features highly sought-after contemporary artists and also blockchain-based Art Blocks NFT collection. It kickstarts the October season for the world’s largest auction house. This historical event happened by the commendable efforts of Noah Davis – Associate Vice President at Christie’s and resident NFT Specialist. This will push NFT tokens towards mainstream adoption by granting them legitimacy and approval of traditional art houses.
We've shattered the $100 million ceiling in #NFT sales worldwide. Pushing us over this historic mark was the record-setting success of our first-ever NFT auction in Asia, which closed online in Hong Kong on 28 September and achieved a total of HK$122 Million (USD $15.6M). pic.twitter.com/ob6c79Oi6z
About Curio Cards
Curio Cards are the oldest NFT art collection on the Ethereum blockchain. The contract deployed on May 9th, 2017. This means that it predates CryptoPunks by 45 days or 1.5 months – which released on 23rd June 2017. It was created by Thomas Hunt, Travis Uhrig, and Rhett Creighton. The cards are better understood as heavily modified ERC-20 tokens since NFT grade ERC-721 wasn’t available at that time. There are a total of 27,997 Curio Cards, after discounting ~1000 burned cards. They are a collection of 30 collectible cards with variable supplies, which have different meanings and of course a rich history.
